morning everyone good morning how are you hold on one second can you hear me okay cuz I'm working from my work laptop so this is the first time I'm using doing Zoom for my work laptop yes I have to figure stuff out on here good morning if you make me admin something then I can help you out if you need help hold on one second okay hopefully that works good morning everyone everyone doing good morning mr. Moore morning everyone how are you how's everyone doing today mom is this the rainbow head Taiwan oh yeah my phone's not on I can't hear you Mom Michelle laundry Felix it's going all right off in college Dante I told him I work he want to go but I go to my sister sorry but he haven't been sick since he been out of food enjoyed his thumb we'll just wait about two more minutes before we begin okay good morning good morning good morning good morning okay good morning everyone actually good afternoon the time now is 12 p.m. I'm going to wait maybe about a couple of more moments just for more parents a lot going before we begin all right so the time now is 12:02 and just out of respect for everyone's time I will begin to be that I am recording today's meeting just so that we can post it and send it out that are an able to participate in okay so miss Lydia can you begin recording the meeting for us please yes it's recording thank you all right before we begin ladies and gentlemen I'm just going to ask true thing until the end of days we have a lot to discuss in regards to 2021 school year and then if you have any questions please just keep a list of them throughout this morning's meeting and then I will open the floor for a question-and-answer session if I'm not questions to out the presentation please feel free at the very end to ask your question okay what I'm going to do now is just share my screen with everyone begin the meeting so if you give me one moment shooting your teacher can you help me how do I thank you or so before we begin I just want to shout a couple of people out I want to thank all of our parents and students for joining us today to go over this meeting I want to give a shout out to all of my msat staff members gato on this more of this afternoon's meeting if you are staff member can you just wave at the screen so everyone knows who you are all right thank you and lastly I want to give a shout out to a parent coordinator silly I'm at Coachman's land and I'll Community School director Miss Lydia for putting today's meeting together for us support today's meeting we're going to review the health and safety updates for this coming after that we will go into of the informal survey results which will lead us into a remote learning model selection so the 2020-2021 school year and then we will have a question-and-answer session at the very end so can if any questions come up I'm going to ask that parents please just write them down at the very end if I haven't answered your question you feel free to ask ask them at the end of the meeting okay so just to go over the health updates for the school year update the Department of Education has broken down the health plan into four different tenants and I'm going to review those tenants for you all today the first one is promoting behaviors that reduce the spread of covid-19 the school building so all students and staff members will be practicing social distancing and the staff members will be enforcing the practice of social distancing all students will be required to say 6 feet apart from each other and all staff member will be required to say 60 apart everyone is expected to wear a face covering throughout the school day that is including staff and students our school day is going to be five and a half hours so our students will have to wear a mask or that time with the exception of when they are eating lunch everyone will have opportunities to keep their hands clean we're currently installing antibac cereal dispenser throughout the building as well as suits will have opportunities to go to the restroom and wash their hands frequently the Department of Education will also be delivering sign in to our building to help facilitate and enforce this Behavior so posters will be hung up around the building and we will have markings on a floor that was just enforce the idea of keeping social distance from one another remember reminding everyone and to keep their hands clean intend it be we have maintaining a healthy environment the first part of that tenant is changes to the school building the only big change that we is that our classroom will have no more than 12 students and one adult in each of their four total of 13 people in the room again we do not plan on having or we're not allowed to have more 12 students in any given room at one time with one adult are custodial staff will be cleaning and disinfecting the buildings throughout the school day as well as during after school biggest change to maintaining a healthy environment is that lunch will be in our classroom we will not be going to the cafeteria this year the food will be brought up two hours also noticed that during lunch time it is an instructional. This year so students will be having lunch and be taking part in an instructional. At the same time what do I do thank you I'm just trying to see we have maintaining healthy operations so students will be tested when they walk into the building as well as staff the temperature will be taken and this is part of us entry protocol which leads us into tenant D if a staff member has high temperature they will be sent home. We'll have to pick up your child and staff members will be asked to if anyone when you look at 10 and see if anyone is feeling they must stay home if they have a temperature they must stay home if anyone in the building thumbs down with covid-19 one child in that classroom comes down with covid-19 or the teacher that class will have to quarantine so today we will be slow and put in a classroom learning will still continue at that time more confirmed cases of covid-19 within our building then our entire our Thai building will be closed for two weeks however remote learning will still take place circumstances school will still continue what bulb for quarantining will just participate remotely so just as a review we will be practicing social distancing and we will signs up that promote social distancing everyone in the building will be required to wear a face mask mask will be provided by the Department of Education if we do not have if you come to school without it there will be opportunities for everyone to keep their hands clean in the building where that's going to the restroom or we and we will have hand sanitizer dispensers throughout the building also we will have signage Walmart East route to building just reminding our school community of all of these tenants throughout the school day please note that students will not be transitioning in the building when I students come to school Google straight to homeroom and they will stay in their home in classes until dismissal a reminder lunch will be served in that classroom and lunch is an instructional. The school day will last five and a half hours for our students with the exception of lunch everyone is expected to wear their face masks throughout the day that is a manding let's go now we're moving through the instructional updates for the school year when reopening schools this fall we are working with the gioi to ensure that these three tenants are in place strongest social emotional Wellness in two continuity of instruction and acceleration of learning for all students so as we work throughout the school year we're going to be making sure that I curriculum in all of our efforts address the social emotional Wellness of our students we recognize that many of our students will be coming back into the school building facing various circumstances and some of them may have had traumatic experiences whether or not it's losing a relative or get it be stick them self and having to deal with that we will be training our staff and a school community and how to support our students through this process continuity of instruction means that whether you select the remote caption for pictures to send your child to school twice a week instruction will always take place and all students will have access to the same quality of instruction that is how we're going to accelerate learning for all costume and make sure that is Equitable and all of our students movies in Bridgeville Pennsylvania programming and schedule that provides time for instructional nation and maximizes learning time for students so I'll school they will be programs such as we will have 5 and 1/2 instructional hours with lunch taking place in the classroom there will be a class happening at that time what class that is we do not know yet but students are expected to learn and eat at the same time and finally prioritizing Partnerships with families to support student learning we are still a community school parents and it is very important that you let us know what your needs are throughout the school year whatever you need supporting please contact us weather is through our parent coordinator through the main office through our social guidance counselor different opportunities to connect with our school Community please do so and let us know how we can support you throughout the school year in order to support our students throughout the summer my staff members had been contacting families to ask them what their plans are for the school year so before we continue I just want to send a special thank you to miss Lan Miss Dennis Miss Celie Miss born Miss Jameson Simon miss wearing mr. La Fontaine and mr. Murphy who throughout the summer have been calling you all through encourage you to fill out the school survey as well as find out what your plans for remote learning will be for the school now we weren't able to get in contact with all of our families however a large number of our families did respond in great 623 about families responded and Grace 727 families responded and ingredients read families responded increase 69% of our families opted for remote learning 78% of us families opted for in school learning and 13 not sure of what their decision when it was going to be in 7th grade 37% office for remote learning 52% of our families opted for in school learning and 11% said that they weren't sure in grade eight 37% opted for remote learning 44% opted for in school learning and 19% acted rather said they were unsure of whether or not they were going to do or in school learn another department of education has stated that the results of the formal surveys administered will be released to our school this week at some point this week I should be received what everyone's decision will be in baseball for decision we can begin programming for the school year with this information we discussed what model we're going to use as a school Community for the coming school year now the deal we released a number of different models in meeting without staff we determined that model one beat with best soup our school community now one be right there at the bottom you will see that accounts for one group that was solely shoes remote learning and they will engage a remote learning five days per the remaining students will be broken up into two cohorts we have group a and Group B when looking at model B you'll see that group egg goes to school every Tuesday and Wednesday and probably will go to school every Thursday and Friday when you look at Monday it is a rotating day where the first week group-a comes to school and the second week becomes to school now I'm planning without teachers we realized a number of thinks we are going to stick with model 1B but we are applying for an exception to 1B and that exception is for Monday we would like to make Monday a remote learning day all students instead of having it rotate between A and B so what you see in front of you is our ekseption model right here on Mondays instead everyone is remote and then Tuesday through Friday Bruxie will remain remote a will continue to come to school Tuesdays and Wednesday Beeville continue to come to school Thursdays and Friday now there are number of reasons why we opted to do this and I'm going to go over a few of those reasons with you today the first is historically the students that enter msap in 6th grade Common about 80% of Us 2 come in Reading at least two grade levels below their reading level so when they enter in the sixth grade the majority of our students either read at a 4th grade reading level lower some have been seen to read a third second and even first grade reading level we would use Monday as a reteach day for our students a reteach and intervention day for this day will be used to reach each standards for them to master what they are learning throughout the week to give them additional practice with that it will also be a day where they would engage in their reading intervention to help boost their levels and bring them to grade level now if you look at the State website we are scheduled to take the state examination and Ela and in math Maddox next year 20/20 what our students will have the ELA and math examination as it stands right now now many of our students or minutes are in stomach I've had interruptions in their learning and they didn't have to take the state exam this school year so they may not be prepared for the rigors of that examination and we literally have less than a year to prepare them and bring them to braid level which is why we're looking at having Monday as that intervention and reteach day drive those standards and make sure that they're mastering them now in order to do that planning so while I students are engaging in those reteach lesson and in those intervention I will teach it will be working together working together to create lessons for the week over 30% of our students have an individualized education plan and I just need time to work in teams to make sure that they are planning to meet the needs of every single one of our students and that is what we're going to be choosing that planning time for to make sure I lesson to differentiate it and make sure that we have the resources necessary to make sure that I was students can approach Mastery throughout the gear and prepare for those examination to increase their reading levels there are a number of benefits to this model lastly we would be using that Monday to support our teachers in professional development that's social emotional training that is required for our students again our students have all of my special needs teachers and we're going to be working together it developed that training so that our staff can support our students as they transition back into school as they get back into the habit of coming to school whether it's two days a week or even if is working remotely in the stress that comes with working remotely which many of us have experienced and I know parents you've experienced it to in that abrupt transmission last year so this is why we're applying for this exception I'll continue no we're going to get into the parents shoe and a portion of today's meeting Buffet you asked a question I do want to make it known that as my staff was reaching out to this summer many of you have asked an assortment of questions that we collect it as well as when you receive the flyer what's today's meeting there was an email address for you to replies of questions, to go through an answer for you the very end if I have not answered your questions then please feel free to ask them so the first question was who will my child's teacher be at this point we do not know and the reason why because I haven't gotten the survey results yet to see how many parents have opted is remote learning solely and how many students will be coming in two days per week also my staff has been allowed to apply for a remote teaching accommodations when I last checked I had three staff members that apply for it however the week before I had four staff members so the Department of Education is stated that there let me know this week and release the final tally to me this week once I have how many teachers have applied for that exception and how many students will be working remotely we convened again matching teachers okay teachers. 2 classes how many students will be in a classroom we will have no more than 12 students in a classroom at any given time due to the square footage of a classroom sizes in order to promote social distancing we cannot have more than 12 students in a classroom not that doesn't necessarily mean that there will be 12 students in every class there may be a class that has 9 students in a class that has 7 students in it or 10 student but we will not go over the number 12 to promote social distancing will my child have the same teacher if we opted into remote learn at this point again I do not have the answer to that question because I don't have a full account of how many staff members opted to work remotely if I have an overwhelming amount number of Staff members working remotely and not enough in the building then I will have to work with the Department of Education to stagger classes and some other teachers in SC that honestly being the issue no I jumped but at this point in time I don't have the answer when will we know what series my top is this what is a person learning you will have that answered the last week of August the Department of Education has ensured principles that they will receive all of starting information in order to begin programming their schedules and their schools this week the goal is to make sure that all of our families know what days they are supposed to go into the building last week in August my child has an IEP if I often to remote learning will they still receive their services absolutely why programming is going to be very important and additionally that is why we're planning for this exemption so I want to take you back to that exemption model wear on Monday our entire school is working remotely so that our teachers have time to to meet the needs of our students whether it's remote for in school remember over 30% of my students have an IEP in our building that's a lot of chicks teachers need time to shear and ensure that their needs are being met next question I'm not receiving any Communications from the Department of Education or msap you must sign up for your my school's account to receive information from the Department of Education if you do not have access to your my school's account PowerPoint percent is my parent coordinator Miss Feely information is at the very end of this presentation paper information down and contact her she can give you your my school's account information and show you how to lock on Portsmouth lamp has also volunteered to support our families and learning how to navigate the my school's account if you are not receiving any correspondence from msap make sure that one we have your ear email address if we don't have your email address contact Miss Celie and give it to her contact us at my remote learning. MS he. Org an email us your email address let us know who the child is what signed you up for now again all of this information will be on the last slide for you to copy down also we have the remind system now if you are msat. On this broadcast you should be receiving text messages from the Steely you should be every letter we send out straight to your phone that's what remind us it'll send it as a flyer and it'll pop up in your smartphone to let you know what's going on in our school community if you are not receiving those the contact information is at the end of the slide for you to copy down and sign up for the program next question if I opted to remote learning will I be able to speak to my child about their progress our staff members will have designated conference throughout the day to contact and engaged clearance your point person to set that up will be out here cordatum is stealing or you can simply email out staff members just set up that appointment but each teacher will have a designated time frame during the school day to contact and when is the first day of school the chancellor has stated that our first date is September 10th again it'll be September 10th that is what we are working with as of now that may be subject to change given if something should happen but please note that the first day of school as it stands right now is September 10th what if I don't like remote learning from my child can we switch to the blending learn model yes you can however you cannot do it whenever you want to there will be for Windows during the school year when you can ask back into the Blended learning models and this is for programming reasons and to keep our students safe remember we cannot have more than 12 students in a classroom so if you chew the Blended learning and send your child to school two days per week in November we're going to need time to figure out what class to put them in which courts put them in and that's what it takes schedule so if you ask for remote learning right now you ask solutely can get your child back into the building but they will be for time frames during the school year for that to happen and that information will come out you can't however Ops 4 remote learning at any time so let's say your shows to send your child to school two days per week and then you don't like what's happening then maybe something happened in another school that you don't feel comfortable with you can say I want to out my child in for remote learning and that your child will be rolled into the remote learning class and the expectation Moby Wrap a log on. Very next day in that remote learning class what if I don't feel comfortable with my child staying in the classroom when can I opt do remote learning again anytime you can opt into remote learning what happens if a child or staff member has positive for covid-19 if one student or one staff member has positive for covid-19 that classroom is immediately shut down those students and a teacher in that classroom are expected to quarantine for 14 days at home that classroom will be deep clean it will not open up until after the 14 day window during that time all of the students in that class will be at JDM promote learning if two or more cheese or staff members in the building come down with covid-19 then the whole school shuts down and moves to remote learning the school closes it is deep cleaned and it will not open for 4 how many covid-19 cases before the Department of Education shut schools and moves fully to remote learning the number set by the sea is 3% if the amount of cases throughout New York City SC 3% the entire school system shuts down we all move to remote Barney until it comes back down I don't have access to technology will my child receive a computer the short answer is yes they will we will set up a schedule for our parents are incoming parents to pick up technology from our school building as well as whatever supplies are necessary for instruction if you are MS msat student at this time you should already have a PC if you don't have a computer you should have an iPad from the Department of Education to support remote learning my child ride the school bus what will the services look like at this time I pair coordinator is working to find out what those Service is like the department of is inundated with questions about busting for the school year and bussing isn't something schools really control but what they are doing is putting together a forming a strategy for reply for busing for students that will need it once that is fully rolled out we will send the information directly to you we will email it to you we will also send it to you Lamont which is why it is important for you to sign up for our school messaging services at the end of this meeting how will lunch be run again lunch is being brought to students in their class lunch is now an instructional. There is no recess there is no going to the cafeteria beautiful eat lunch and engage and instruction in the classroom will my child get to participate in recessed no social distancing cannot be enforced if children are playing during recess we see it all the time students playing double dutch basketball these are all games where students can touch they run they play we have to enforce social distancing recessed will not take place is my child required to wear a all day yes they are school is five and a half hours our children and our staff members are expected to always have masks on with the exception of when eating lunch after they finish eating their lunch they are to put the mask back on what tech not What technological platforms for your school be using to support learning we are a Google school we use G Suite all rock classes will take all about the student remote learning classes will take place Google Drive using Google classrooms we also use i-Ready as an Intervention Program and this year we are looking at investing in to near Park which is an instructional platform to support what does intervention Monday and those reteach lessons for our students so again Google classrooms is our main platform every child in our school will receive an m s a p address attached to our Google domain we use I ready for instructional intervention and we are investing in nearpod for instruction how will children pass in the hallways they will not students will stay in their classrooms for the instructional day the only time students will move throughout the building is during morning entry and dismissal which will both be staggered we must promote social distancing students will not move in the hallway everything will be brought to that the only time students will be in the hallway is if they ask to use the restroom what you got some drinking water if that is the case we will have staff members in the whole way is forcing social distancing making sure that students are not walking together or making sure that they're not crowding in the restrooms together because we have to at all cost for tax our chicks we must how long is the school day 5 and 1/2 hours will there be an expanded Day program this year excited to announce that we are still a community school we had our meeting last week and that Grant is still with us despite the large budget cuts to the city what the city is doing now and what the Department of Education doing is figuring out how after school programs will work this year so we don't exactly know how it's going to be structure weather's going to be online or another option but we will have some sort of programming for our students we are still at Community School we will still be providing services such as vision screening and those necessary supports for hours and family will there be a 6th grade orientation meeting yes there will be a 6th grade orientation it will be held during the last week in August our 6th grade will meet with me virtually we will go over what programming looks like for the school here classrooms what day students should come to school and it's extra those are all of the questions that we received during the summer and via email at this time if there are any additional question I would like to open the floor parents who asked them okay good afternoon good afternoon Shekinah I would like to know so say it. DeAndre get sick not the covid-19 but like a viral infection of some sort can I automatically opt out go to remote learning for the rest of the school year okay alright thank you that's what I question hi good afternoon I have a question so my son he's an incoming 6th grader I had a question about the temperature check what is the temperature cuz I know for my work place that selling me is 100.4 but someone said you're ninety-nine point something can you clarify what is the temp actually I cannot for you we have not received the official temperature we do know that's the picture checks will occur and when we receive that information we will be sure to share it with our entire School community okay what's the painting today question so I know there's no recess what are the plan for physical activity you know that's something that I still going to have it for the past five months old what does your school have in place will there be some type of movement OK Google education will still take place the class physical education and it will be in small groups. We will not be playing team sports during this epidemic movement will still take place Mighty truth I'm done Apple job transitioning kids and they do things such as wiggle brakes I've seen in our classroom and we have some are traced a week to practice opportunities for students to just Shake It Off the bottom line is I can still Chase shake them like robots and we can't we have to take into come so if the school has a school nurse who will be testing children okay now it's the school does not have a school nurse then the gioi will train staff member or find a temporary nurse to come into the building to take care of the testing protocol okay it will not not be erased it or ice most likely Biba Channing gone so we won't be touching students are putting anything in their mouth it would really just be the temperature check that you hold a distance away from the child's forehead to register that temperature okay but that's only for the temperature but what I'm asking like you said if one student become positive now or whatsoever that that classifies you shut down for 14 days all whatsoever action and a child something's happening and if they don't feel good the school we will have a covid-19 t we have a building we have a room in our building take that child and . how to win the nurse will assess the child if need be a mess will be cooled and their child as house parents will be cool so the school will have protocols in place to support that child in transit from the classroom into our quarantine space in the building which is near the nurse's office with a nurse can probably properly traits take care of that child okay all right next question or comment Lissa Padma are students required to be tested before spring School at this point the deal we has asked that all students and staff members be tested at least seven days before the school year begins okay so everyone should have a cold with chest before the school day before the school year begins okay I have a I have something to cheer I just recently took DeAndre to the doctor his doctor said is not a state mandate to test him so now I have to go to a testing site to get infested if I decide to let him come school okay so that's the information coming from your doctor what I will do then is reach out I'm going to reach out to my district office and get the exact verbiage and send it out to our parents okay at this time what I wanted I want to make sure that all of our parents are informed of whatever protocols and expectations are put in place and once I get that information we will send it out to all of our parents and posted on our school website for you all right thank you you're welcome are there any additional questions dress code we are a uniform school and his expectations still stands that we have house school uniform what I have on right now is a t-shirt if you can see this option for we also have our school polo shirts so we have a black polo shirt and khaki pants or a school uniform if you seen this land this land if you can't wait for the camera I can't see her from my angle but she has on the schools polo shirt okay and you can get that from ideal so again we are uniform school black polo shirt khaki pants we had this t-shirt option because I know it gets warm and I like to get we like to give our students option we're on inside the school building all right because I had that thing is writing up again I would say I read it to have jamyra juice home doing the remote for the rest of the year so that's something that is okay for her to do what she have to be in school for 2 days in a week we should get engaged in remote instruction for the entire school yet the choice is up to our parents okay so if you feel comfortable and keeping her home and you don't want to send her into the school building that is your choice and support you in that choice she will be placed in a remote learning class she will still be expected to participate in school
