MSAP School Community -

Tomorrow we will begin New York State Mathematics Testing.  The exam will run from May 2nd through 4th.    We ask that you help prepare your child by doing the following:

  • ·         ensure that they go to sleep early.
  • ·         ensure that they wake up early and get to school on time.  They should eat breakfast at home or at school - but they should eat a healthy breakfast to keep them energized for the exams.
  • ·         students should be in homeroom by 8:10 am.

We will be enforcing the following protocols this year:

·         The tests are untimed for this year's exams.  Exams will be given an automatic three hour sitting period.  Exams will be collected from students when they are finished.  At that time they may read a book or put their heads down and rest.

·         If students are not working productively for 20 minutes, we will assume that they are finished working on their exams.  They may be collected at this time.

·         It is against NYS law for students to have cell phones with them during testing.  We ask that students keep their phones at home during these days.  If they do not, teachers will give students a baggie and post it to write their names and they will be collected.  They will be removed from the room during testing and returned when testing is complete.  If they keep the phone in their possession and it goes off, they run the risk of having their exam invalidated.  Please speak with your child about these important protocols and let them know that you expect them to cooperate with the school.

We will not have guests in the building until after 12 pm on any of the testing days.  Please keep that in mind - we ask that you adhere to this policy as it helps to keep our staff focused on test administration.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call.  A copy of this message will be placed on the school website -

We expect your children to do their best on the exams and know they are capable of achieving great things with your support.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
